In a continued effort to combat the rising insecurity in Zamfara State, the Joint Task Force (JTF) of Operation Hadarin Daji has successfully rescued seven more female students of the Federal University of Gusau (FUGUS). This rescue mission comes after a distressing incident where bandits abducted over 20 female students from an off-campus hostel in Sabon Gida village, Bungudu LGA of the state.
Earlier reports by LEADERSHIP had highlighted the initial abduction, which occurred in the early hours of a Friday. Security experts like Zagazola Makama, who specializes in counter-insurgency in the Lake Chad region, have been closely monitoring the situation. According to Makama, the seven students were freed from captivity alongside three male workers of Gupran Engineering Services Ltd.
This latest rescue operation follows the successful retrieval of six female students on the same Friday shortly after their abduction. In total, the JTF has now rescued an impressive count of 13 students.
