Beyoncé to Appear at Kamala Harris’ Houston Rally on Friday, Source Confirms

October 24, 2024

Music superstar Beyoncé is set to make her first campaign trail appearance alongside Vice President Kamala Harris in Houston this Friday. The highly anticipated event marks the first time the two will share a stage, with country legend Willie Nelson also slated to perform. The rally aims to be a significant show of support for the Democratic ticket as the campaign heads into its final days before Election Day.

The collaboration between Beyoncé and Harris has been in the works since the vice president received permission to use Beyoncé’s hit song “Freedom” as the official anthem for the campaign. While previous speculation suggested that the star might join Harris at the Democratic convention, the campaign confirmed that her appearance in Houston is the planned show of unity.

Although Beyoncé is only now officially joining the vice president on the campaign trail, she has a history of backing Democratic candidates. In 2013, she performed the National Anthem at President Barack Obama’s inauguration and later supported Hillary Clinton’s 2016 bid for the White House with a pre-election concert. The singer also endorsed the Biden-Harris ticket during the 2020 election, encouraging her fans to vote via social media.

During the Houston rally, Vice President Harris is expected to focus on reproductive rights, an issue that has taken center stage following the overturning of Roe v. Wade. She will highlight the impact of restrictive abortion laws in states like Texas and contrast her stance with former President Donald Trump’s on this contentious issue. Harris will be joined by women who have experienced the effects of Texas’ abortion bans, aiming to galvanize voters to support candidates who advocate for reproductive freedom.

The rally will also feature Rep. Colin Allred, who is challenging Republican Sen. Ted Cruz in the upcoming Senate race. The event forms part of a broader effort to mobilize voters in Texas, with reproductive rights emerging as a critical issue driving turnout. Harris’ visit to the state will include an interview with renowned podcaster Brené Brown, further expanding the campaign’s outreach to diverse audiences.

With Beyoncé’s star power and Harris’ message on pressing issues like reproductive rights, the event promises to be a major moment in the push to energize voters ahead of November’s crucial elections.
