Nigerian Afrobeat sensation, Wizkid, also known as Ayodeji Balogun, has broken his silence following the tragic passing of his mother.
He expressed the profound sorrow he feels regarding his mother’s demise, describing it as the most intense pain he has ever experienced.
Wizkid’s beloved mother, Juliana Morayo Balogun, peacefully departed on August 18 in London and was laid to rest on Friday, October 13, after a poignant church service held at the Redeemed Christian Church of God (City of David) in Victoria Island.
During a wake and tribute service held on Thursday, October 12, at the Balmoral Hall of the Federal Palace Hotel and Casino in Victoria Island, Lagos, Wizkid shared his heartache, stating that this is the deepest pain he has ever endured.
“I am at a loss for words to express the depth of the anguish I am feeling. I know that every member of my family shares in this profound sorrow with me.
While I understand that the pain may never completely fade, I am not asking for the pain to be taken away. I have faith that God, in His infinite mercy, will provide us with the strength to move forward with life. This pain runs deep, it is the most profound I have ever experienced. I feel lost, but I pray, and I trust that God will comfort each one of us,” he said.
Wizkid’s first public appearance after his mother’s passing was at the candlelight procession held on Wednesday, October 11, in honor of his late mother.
Numerous celebrities, including Osas Ighodaro, Banky W, D’banj, and others, joined Wizkid at the funeral to bid a heartfelt farewell to his mother.
