Why Akwa Ibom Invested $10m In US Property – Gov Emmanuel

Akwa State government led by Governor Udom Emmanuel has extended its investment in real estate worth $10million to the United States of America (USA) in the State of Atlanta, Georgia.

Governor Emmanuel while undertaking the groundbreaking ceremony of the Akwa Ibom House in Atlanta, at the weekend, said “the project is in partnership with the Akwa Ibom State Association of Nigeria (AKISAN), Atlanta chapter.

He said, “The money given by the state government is a huge investment, which has acquired 23 percent equity stake, was not a donation. He, therefore, expressed optimism that “the project will yield maximum benefits, and will be a veritable source of external financial inflows into the coffers of the State government.”

Giving an insight into the project, the national secretary of AKISAN, Sir Michael Asuquo and the project manager of the Akwa Ibom Housing Project, said “the project is a $10 million Dollar project, which will earn a lot of revenue to all the investors. The location of the project is very lucrative.’’. It is sited less than 15 minutes from the busiest airport in the world- the Hartsfield Jackson Airport, Atlanta.

The national president of AKISAN, Itoro Akpaniquot, thanked the Governor for his continuous support, vowing that “they will continue to support the Government in various ways like medical outreaches, scholarships, wards and empowerment programmes.”

Governor Emmanuel was accompanied by a large entourage comprising the governor-elect, Pastor Umo Eno; member of the House of Representatives for Eket Federal Constituency, Hon. Patrick Ifon; secretary to the state government (SSG), Dr. Emmanuel Ekuwem; national chairman, Maintain Peace Movement (MPM), Barr. Emmanuel Enoidem; deputy speaker of the state assembly, Rt. Hon. Felicia Bassey; Commissioner for Works and Fire Service, Prof. Eno Ibanga; commissioner for local government and chieftaincy affairs, Mr. Frank Archibong; commissioner for information and strategy, Comrade Iniobong Ememobong, as well the chairman of Eket local government area, Hon.
