The United Arab Emirates government has issued an arrest order for a man who was captured on video displaying arrogance and making extravagant demands at a luxury car showroom in Dubai.
According to reports from Arabian Business, the video not only insults and ridicules Emirati society but also incites harmful public opinion of citizens. In the viral footage, an individual dressed in Emirati attire, identified as an Asian man, can be seen attempting to purchase several expensive cars, including a Mercedes, Rolls-Royce, and a Red Bull sports car. He is accompanied by individuals carrying large sums of money.
The UAE’s Federal Prosecution for Combating Rumours and Cybercrimes has ordered the man’s detention pending investigations. He has been accused of abusing the internet by disseminating inciting propaganda that stirs up public opinion and harms the public interest. Additionally, he faces charges of publishing content that violates media content standards and insults Emirati society.
The Federal Bureau of Investigation at the UAE Attorney General’s Office has been monitoring social media activity, including a video in which the defendant is seen wearing Emirati attire inside the luxury car showroom, accompanied by individuals carrying what appears to be large amounts of money.
In the video, the man engages in conversation with the showroom owner and arrogantly expresses his desire to purchase a car valued at over AED2 million ($545,000). The UAE’s FBI has stated that his actions, including distributing financial packages to the showroom employees, demonstrate imprudence and a lack of appreciation for the value of money.
The video in question promotes an inaccurate and offensive portrayal of Emirati citizens, mocking and ridiculing them while inciting and provoking public opinion to the detriment of the public interest.
As part of the investigation, the Public Prosecution has also summoned the owner of the car showroom where the video was filmed.
