A gunman unleashed chaos during a party in Jonesboro, Arkansas, leaving two individuals dead and five others wounded. The violence erupted shortly before 5 am on Sunday, prompting a swift response from law enforcement.
Officers arrived at the scene to find multiple victims suffering from gunshot wounds, according to a statement by the Jonesboro Police Department. Among the casualties were a man and a woman, both known to the shooter, who tragically lost their lives.
The shooter, whose identity has not been disclosed, also perished during the incident. Five individuals sustained injuries, including a woman described as an acquaintance of the assailant. Notably, three of the wounded victims had no prior connection to the suspect.
Revealing the heartbreaking detail that the two female victims were sisters, police spokesperson Sally Smith disclosed that the shooting stemmed from a domestic disturbance that escalated into violence at a private party hosted in an abandoned building.
While authorities have reassured the public that there is no ongoing threat to the community, an investigation into the incident is underway.
