Tekashi 6ix9ine, a rapper with a history of scandals, has been apprehended in Florida, as confirmed by Page Six.
The artist, known for the hit “GOOBA,” aged 27, was taken into custody on Wednesday night in Palm Beach County Jail for failure to appear, according to jail records.
Identified as Daniel Hernandez, the rapper was released on a $2,000 bond just three hours after being detained.
Page Six reached out to the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office for an official statement.
This recent legal entanglement follows an incident a few months back when he was assaulted by several individuals in a Florida-based LA Fitness restroom.
A disturbing video of the altercation circulated on social media in March, depicting 6ix9ine on the bathroom floor while two men unleashed blows upon him.
While the attackers berated him, he was kicked in the stomach and punched in the head.
The rapper, who has a criminal history, was swiftly transported to a hospital to treat injuries to his jaw, ribs, back, and various cuts and bruises.
He addressed the assault publicly and even his child’s mother called it “embarrassing” for their 7-year-old daughter.
Taking to social media, he criticized his assailants, labeling them as “cowardly.”
He declared, “For 2 years I been walking around with no security… Not saying I promote that BUT now you see I really never hid from anything.”
While initially branding them as cowards, he eventually adopted a different perspective, expressing that he’s “not mad” about the “unfair” incident.
“In the street there’s no rules so I cant say they were wrong,” he commented, clarifying that he was “not involved” in the matter they were attempting to resolve.
The trio of suspects – Rafael Medina Jr., 43; Anthony Maldonado, 25; and Octavious Medina, 23 – were arrested on charges of robbery and assault.
Before concluding his post, 6ix9ine conveyed gratitude towards his fans and mused about the state of affairs, expressing his disbelief at the idea of respecting people who jump others.
The Brooklyn-born musician became notorious for evading a lengthy prison sentence in 2019.
Initially facing substantial time behind bars after pleading guilty to racketeering and other charges, he secured early release in 2020 by cooperating against his former gang, the Nine Trey Gangsta Bloods.
