In a recent incident that occurred at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA) in Lagos, a potentially catastrophic situation was narrowly avoided when a private jet owned by Nigerian billionaire businessman, Chief Adedeji Adeleke, experienced a concerning issue just moments before takeoff. The incident led to the immediate cancellation of the flight, sparking intrigue and speculation.

Chief Adedeji Adeleke, who happens to be the father of Afrobeat sensation Davido and the brother of Osun State governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, was at the center of this unfolding drama. Governor Adeleke suspected sabotage as the cause of the incident, while the hangar’s owner had a different explanation, attributing it to a bird’s nest.

As authorities, including the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) and the Nigeria Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB), launched investigations into the incident, insiders from the state government provided a startling revelation. They disclosed that when the incident occurred, a copper wire had been discovered concealed inside the engine of the private jet.

Sam Iwuajoku, the CEO of Executive Jets, the company managing the hangar where the private jet was parked, initially asserted that the aircraft had suffered from Foreign Object Damage (FOD) caused by a bird’s nest in one of the engines. However, sources from the Osun Government House contested this explanation, citing implausibilities in the bird’s nest theory.

One source argued, “The plane was used by Davido the previous night, and the governor was scheduled to use the same plane the following day. How could a bird enter and construct a nest in such a short time? Moreover, bird nests are made of small straws and would be blown away once the engine starts. In this case, iron copper wire was discovered inside the engine, which raises questions.”

Another source echoed these concerns, highlighting the sensitivity of the area where the incident occurred, which houses private jets of influential figures like Dangote, Abdul Samad Rabiu of BUA, and the Governor of Ogun State. “This means that it is a very highly sensitive zone. So, to imagine what happened to the governor, that means all those owners of Nigeria are not safe,” the source remarked.

The incident has left many wondering about the potential consequences if the issue had gone unnoticed and the plane had taken off. As investigations continue, the truth behind this mysterious incident involving a billionaire’s private jet remains shrouded in uncertainty.
