“Shehu Sani Warns of a Potential Confused and Unstable Political Path for Wike”

Former National Assembly lawmaker, Senator Shehu Sani, has voiced his belief that Nyesom Wike could encounter a tumultuous, disorganized, and shaky political journey unless he shifts his allegiance to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

According to a report by HeraldNG, Shehu Sani made these remarks during an interview with The Punch when asked about Wike’s recent actions.

Recall that Nyesom Wike held the position of Rivers State governor under the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) from 2015 to 2023. On August 16, 2023, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) appointed him as the minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

Commenting on Wike’s dual role as an APC minister while remaining a PDP party member, Shehu Sani advised, “I recommend that Nyesom Wike should consider joining the APC, where he can dedicate his service to the party and allow the PDP to fulfill its role as an opposition party.”

Sani continued, “It would be more honorable for him to align with the APC and work without causing suspicion from either side. If he persists in straddling both the APC and PDP, his political career could become muddled, chaotic, and unstable. He has a significant role to play.”

“Having served as the FCT minister, I have no doubts about his competence. He is poised to bring order to Abuja. However, he remains viewed as a traitor, and his current position might be likened to receiving his ’30 pieces of silver,’ which is less than ideal. It would be best for him to switch parties and effectively serve President Tinubu and the APC,” Shehu Sani concluded.
