Rivers State Assembly Member Slams Sheikh Gumi Over Comments on FCT Minister Wike

October 22, 2023

Rivers State House of Assembly Member, Hon. Adoki Tonye Smart, strongly criticized Sheikh Ahmad Abubakar Gumi for his comments regarding the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike. Adoki declared that the days of sponsored banditry, criminal activities, and kidnapping in Abuja were over, asserting that Minister Wike had full control of the territory.

In a statement issued in Port Harcourt, Adoki cautioned Sheikh Gumi and others against making further provocative and disparaging remarks about the former Rivers State Governor, Wike, and urged them to cease displaying animosity toward Southerners.

Adoki also warned the controversial Muslim cleric that the era of collaborating with bandits and criminals for kidnappings and ransoms had come to an end, saying, “The days of planning with bandits and criminals to kidnap and share ransoms with them are gone. Eze Nyesom Wike is the Minister of FCT; accept it. It’s astonishing how unreasonable this man sounds.”

“Some of these Northerners seem to believe this country belongs to them,” Adoki continued. “No wonder they considered it their right for one northerner to succeed another. For your information, Gumi, that era is gone. A man whose state contributes nothing to the nation sits in his corner demanding Wike’s removal as FCT Minister simply because Wike received the Israeli Ambassador to Nigeria in his office.”

“Although we’ve been anticipating such frustrating statements for a while, these sympathizers of bandits can no longer hide their frustration since Wike’s appointment as FCT Minister. That’s why Gumi couldn’t contain himself and spoke out.”

“FCT is developed and sustained by the revenues from the Niger Delta, and we haven’t complained. You want to enjoy our money, yet you don’t want us to have the FCT Minister position. Shame on you, Gumi,” Adoki concluded.
