The body of the late former Governor of Ondo State, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, arrived in Nigeria on Friday, following his passing in Germany. The plane carrying his remains touched down at approximately 3:39 p.m.

In a statement by Richard Olatunde, the chief press secretary to the late Akeredolu, it was mentioned that his wife, Betty Anyanwu-Akeredolu, along with his children and siblings, received the body. Wole Akeredolu, the immediate younger brother of the deceased, led the family members.

The reception team included Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, represented by Chief of Staff, Tayo Ayinde; Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, represented by Secretary to the State Government, Tokunbi Talabi; and a representative of Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke.

Notable figures present at the airport included the Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo State, Ade Adetimehin; House of Representatives member, Gboyega Adefarati; and some members of the Ondo State Executive Council, led by Secretary to the State Government, Oladunni Odu.

A wave of emotions swept through family members, followers, friends, and associates as Akeredolu’s remains were lowered from the plane. The statement revealed that his body has been deposited at the morgue, and details of the burial arrangements will be announced by the family at a later date.

The late Governor Akeredolu battled prostrate cancer before his demise.
