In a much-anticipated development, Governor Rotimi Akeredolu of Ondo State has returned to Nigeria after a three-month medical leave in Germany. This confirmation comes from a reliable source within the state government.

The governor initially began his 21-day leave on June 7th and subsequently embarked on a medical journey to Germany. He was originally expected to return on July 6th but remained abroad, sparking controversy and power struggles among his officials and family members in Ondo State.

On July 15th, Governor Akeredolu formally requested that his deputy, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, assume an “acting capacity” role in his absence through a letter to the state’s lawmakers.

According to our source, the governor arrived in Ibadan early on Thursday and will rest at his private residence before heading to Ondo State. It’s worth noting that the government and Mr. Akeredolu’s family have not made an official announcement about his return, but some members of his cabinet are reportedly on their way to welcome him back.

Meanwhile, Mr. Akeredolu’s wife, Betty Anyanwu-Akeredolu, shared a photograph of him in a chopper on her Instagram account with the caption “homebound.”
