Anambra Government Criticizes JAMB’s Handling of Mmesoma’s UTME Result; Forms Committee for Investigation….
The Anambra State government has expressed dissatisfaction with the approach taken by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) in addressing the issue surrounding Mmesoma Ejikeme’s University and Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) result.
In a statement released by the state’s Commissioner for Information, Sir Paul Nwosu, on Wednesday, it was stated that an ongoing investigation is being conducted to ascertain the true circumstances surrounding the result in question. JAMB had previously issued a press release denouncing the authenticity of Mmesoma’s result.
Nwosu further disclosed that an eight-member committee of inquiry has been established to thoroughly investigate the matter between JAMB and Mmesoma. The findings of the committee will be made available to the public.
The committee comprises Prof. Nkemdili Nnonyelu as Chairman, along with other members including Prof. Mercy Okonkwo, Prof. Ngozi Chuma-Udeh, Prof. Maduabuchi Dukor, Prof. Jaja Nwanegbo, Rev. Sr. Prof. Mary-Felicia Opara, Rev. Canon Dr. Uchenna Umeifekwem, and Mr. Chukwuemeka Fred Agbata, the Managing Director of Anambra Information Communication Technology Agency.
“The Anambra State Government has been closely monitoring the JAMB/Mmesoma Ejike matter for obvious reasons,” the statement read.
It is worth noting that Miss Mmesoma Ejike visited the office of the Anambra State Commissioner for Education, Professor Ngozi Chuma-Udeh, with her UTME result to contest the fact that JAMB did not recognize her as the candidate with the highest score.
Upon receiving her complaint, the Commissioner contacted JAMB to verify her claim but was informed that Mmesoma’s result was forged.
