The newly-appointed Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management, Social Development, and Poverty Alleviation, Ms. Beta Edu, has unveiled her comprehensive strategy to generate 10 million jobs during the next four years of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s tenure. Edu revealed this plan during a reception organized by the Ministry following her swearing-in ceremony, which coincided with the fourth anniversary of the Ministry.

In an effort to solicit media support and create a foundation for employment growth, Edu disclosed her intention to leverage the Ministry for job creation. “Today, I’m excited to share that we will be generating a minimum of 10 million jobs through this Ministry. Just as we have development partners engaged in providing humanitarian services through short-term contracts, we will also create opportunities for Nigerian youth to build their professional profiles,” she declared.

Emphasizing the compassionate nature of President Tinubu, Edu continued, “President Tinubu is not only a skilled leader but also a person with a compassionate heart. This is his flagship ministry, and our commitment is unwavering in achieving positive results.”

Edu’s announcement was accompanied by a pledge to address the plight of Nigerians living in poverty. “I have reviewed data, and it’s disheartening to note that there are approximately 136 million impoverished Nigerians. Our President is deeply concerned, and we share his commitment to rectify this situation,” she stated.

Highlighting the need for an intensified approach, Edu stressed, “Our mandate is to ensure that Nigerians regain their smiles. I’m not just talking about statistics; I’m talking about individuals. Our task is substantial, reaching every corner of the nation to uplift the underserved, impoverished, and those in need of renewed hope.”

Edu assured Nigerians of transparency, accountability, and an open-door policy in her leadership. “We will be forthright in our communication and expenditure. Whether it’s one naira or billions, we will be honest about it. Results will be tangible, and Nigerians will experience the impact of our actions,” she affirmed.

In her plea for cooperation, Edu encouraged her team to work collectively and efficiently, bearing in mind the urgency of their mission. “The clock is ticking, and Nigerians are waiting. We must shed any unnecessary baggage that hinders our performance. It’s a fast-paced journey we’re embarking on, and I ask you to buckle up,” she urged.

Edu concluded by expressing her commitment to innovative programs and grassroots initiatives. She reassured that a collective effort would transform lives, eradicate poverty, and usher in a renewed era of hope for all Nigerians.
