Manchester United is eyeing a £30 million move for Fiorentina midfielder Sofyan Amrabat, contingent on offloading some squad players. The recent signings of Mason Mount and Andre Onana for a total of £107 million have shifted the focus to recruiting a striker, with Atalanta’s Rasmus Hojlund being a top target. United is reportedly closing in on a £60 million deal for Hojlund and will then assess the viability of pursuing Amrabat, provided they can sell some fringe players.
United’s manager Erik ten Hag is working with a net budget of approximately £120 million, but the club can bolster their spending power by parting ways with unwanted players. Notably, they have already gained around £20 million from the sales of Anthony Elanga and Alex Telles, who joined Nottingham Forest and Al Nassr respectively. Eric Bailly, Dean Henderson, Fred, and Donny van de Beek have also been deemed surplus and are available for transfer, while United will consider selling Harry Maguire and Scott McTominay if the right offers come in.
West Ham has been informed that they must pay £40 million for Scotland midfielder Scott McTominay, 26, who has two years left on his current contract. Additionally, United sources confirm that defensive midfielder Sofyan Amrabat, a key member of Morocco’s World Cup semi-final team, is on their shortlist.
Ten Hag has prior experience with Amrabat from their time together at Dutch side Utrecht, where he promoted the player from the academy to the first-team. Meanwhile, Diogo Dalot is eager to contribute to Manchester United’s pursuit of success after committing to the club for the long term.
It has been a decade since Manchester United secured their 20th league title, and the post-Sir Alex Ferguson era has seen its share of challenges and successes. With Erik ten Hag at the helm, the club aims to progress further after finishing third in the Premier League and winning the Carabao Cup last season.
Dalot praised last season’s achievements, expressing that they provide momentum and energy to strive for even greater success. He sees the club’s objectives as a responsibility and is determined to help Manchester United compete for the Premier League title and other honors.
