Ibijoke, the spouse of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State, has responded to the passing of Dr. Vwaere Diaso, a female medical practitioner, describing it as “an arrow fired into the health family.” This statement comes in the wake of an elevator accident that claimed Diaso’s life. A Lagos State government inquiry has been initiated to investigate the incident.

Reportedly, the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) in Lagos State declared an indefinite strike following the tragic incident. The NMA instructed doctors at government hospitals on Lagos Island to halt work as a protest against Diaso’s demise.

In response to the tragedy, numerous House Officers from the Lagos State General Hospital, Odan, Lagos Island, staged protests, highlighting their concerns over the alleged negligence of the hospital’s management. The malfunctioning elevator, which had been the subject of numerous complaints, was identified as the cause of the accident.

The doctor’s unfortunate death has triggered widespread condemnation on social media, with many Nigerians blaming the hospital for negligence.

Surprisingly, Governor Sanwo-Olu’s wife, in a video that has since gone viral, alluded to the incident as a possible “spiritual attack” on the health sector. She also drew a connection between the elevator accident and a recent jet crash in the state, seeking answers from those gathered. “An arrow has been fired into the health family. First of August is a day I will never forget,” she expressed in the video. “The same day a helicopter crashed, the same day a lift dropped down. How? How? How?”
