Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano State has expressed dissatisfaction with the distribution method of the federal government’s N500 billion palliatives aimed at supporting small-scale industries nationwide. According to the governor, the allocation heavily favors Lagos State and the South-South zone, while neglecting the North.

Speaking through his deputy, Comrade Aminu Abdussalam, during a meeting with representatives of the Kano Cooperative Society at the Government House in Kano, Governor Yusuf criticized the unequal distribution of funds. The Bank of Industry was tasked with overseeing the support for small-scale industries across different geopolitical zones.

Governor Yusuf’s press secretary, Ibrahim Shu’aibu, quoted the governor as stating that under the current distribution model, Lagos would receive 47% of the funds, the South-South region would obtain 17%, while the remaining regions would receive lesser amounts. The governor deemed this allocation unfair, unconstitutional, and illegal.

He called upon the National Assembly and other relevant authorities to intervene and take necessary action against those responsible for the distribution imbalance, urging them to rectify the situation promptly.

The issue of unequal distribution of the N500 billion palliatives has raised concerns over fairness and equity in supporting small-scale industries across the country. It remains to be seen how the authorities will address the matter and ensure a more balanced allocation of resources.
