In a today’s exclusive interview with CNN’s Erin Burnett, Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian delivered a stern warning to Israel, cautioning against any potential military action targeting Iran. He stated, “In case the Israeli regime embarks on adventurism again and takes action against the interests of Iran, the next response from us will be immediate and at a maximum level.”
Amir-Abdollahian expressed sincere hope that Israel would not repeat “the previous egregious error,” alluding to the suspected Israeli strike on Iran’s embassy complex in Damascus, Syria. He emphasized that Iran’s response would be decisive, stating, “Our response will be decisive through the Swiss embassy in Tehran.”
Addressing communication with the White House, Amir-Abdollahian reiterated Iran’s stance, saying, “We’ve announced to the White House, sent a message to the White House and Washington DC, the administration in which we’ve reiterated that if the Israeli regime commits the great error once again our response will be decisive, definitive and regretful for them.” He spoke from the Iranian Permanent Mission to the United Nations, one of the few places where he is allowed to be in the US due to State Department restrictions.
Regarding recent missile and drone attacks launched by Iran against Israel, Amir-Abdollahian explained that these actions were in response to suspected Israeli strikes and aimed to demonstrate Iran’s capabilities. He asserted that Iran’s intent was to take “equal action” and to make it known that they possess the means to respond. However, he cautioned that any Israeli retaliation would prompt an immediate and escalated response from Iran.
The tensions between Iran and Israel continue to simmer, with both sides issuing warnings and threats amidst mounting hostilities.
