In a recent development, Hunter Biden has taken legal action against Garrett Ziegler, a former Trump White House aide, regarding his alleged involvement in the laptop data scandal. Biden’s legal team has strongly criticized this move, characterizing it as an extremist agenda-driven campaign.

The lawsuit, consisting of 14 pages, was filed in a California federal court on Wednesday. It accuses Garrett Ziegler, who served as an aide to Peter Navarro, President Donald Trump’s trade adviser, of violating California’s computer fraud and data laws. Ziegler allegedly accessed a substantial amount of Hunter Biden’s data, including tens of thousands of emails, thousands of photos, videos, and recordings.

The complaint goes on to claim that Ziegler and ten other unnamed defendants spent countless hours tampering with, manipulating, altering, copying, and damaging data that did not belong to them. Some of this data, including Hunter Biden’s financial records and credit card details, was stored on his iPhone and backed up via iCloud. The complaint suggests that Ziegler circumvented security measures designed to prevent such access.

Ziegler reportedly shared the contents of this data, even promoting it on his nonprofit website, Marco Polo. Hunter Biden’s attorneys emphasize that while Ziegler is entitled to his opinions, engaging in illegal activities to advance his right-wing agenda is unacceptable.

The lawsuit seeks a jury trial under the Computer Fraud and Abuse Act and California’s Comprehensive Computer Data Access and Fraud Act. Violations of computer fraud laws in California can lead to prison sentences and substantial fines.

Garrett Ziegler served at the White House from February 2019 to January 2021, according to CNN.

In response to the lawsuit, Ziegler dismissed it as lacking merit and criticized the timing, suggesting it was an attempt to stifle criticism through legal action.

This legal action is part of Hunter Biden’s broader campaign to address individuals involved in the laptop scandal that gained notoriety during the 2020 election. In March, Biden’s lawyers filed a lawsuit against John Paul Mac Isaac, the Delaware computer repairman who allegedly obtained and distributed data from Hunter’s laptop.

This lawsuit comes at a challenging time for Hunter Biden, who recently faced the collapse of a plea deal related to tax offenses and a felony gun charge. Additionally, House Speaker Kevin McCarthy announced plans for a formal impeachment inquiry into President Biden over his family’s foreign business deals.

The White House has labeled these proceedings as “baseless” and maintained that President Biden did nothing wrong. Attorneys for Hunter Biden have yet to respond to requests for comment on this matter.
