SANTA FE, NM – February 27, 2025 — Hollywood icon Gene Hackman has been found dead at the age of 96, alongside his wife, Betsy Arakawa, in their home in Santa Fe, New Mexico.
Santa Fe County Sheriff Adan Mendoza confirmed the deaths, stating that no foul play is suspected. The couple was discovered around midnight on February 27. Mendoza refrained from speculating on the cause of death but assured the public that there was no immediate danger to the community.
“I want to assure the community and neighborhood that there’s no immediate danger to anyone,” Mendoza told the Santa Fe New Mexican.
Hackman, one of Hollywood’s most celebrated actors, had an illustrious career spanning decades.
