Federal High Court Strikes Out Money Laundering Charges Against Bobrisky

April 5, 2024

In a new legal development, Justice Abimbola Awogboro of the Federal High Court in Lagos made a decisive ruling in the case against controversial figure Bobrisky, also known as Idris Okuneye. The court session, held on Friday afternoon, saw the striking out of counts five and six, which pertained to money laundering allegations.

The charges were part of a six-count case brought against Bobrisky by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), centered on accusations of naira abuse and other offenses.

However, prior to the formal reading of the charges, the EFCC’s prosecution counsel, Suleiman Suleiman, requested the removal of counts five and six. He urged the court to proceed with counts one to four instead.

Responding to the prosecution’s plea, Justice Awogboro granted the request and proceeded to strike out the money laundering charges against Bobrisky. This decision marks a significant turn in the legal proceedings surrounding the controversial personality.

Bobrisky, a prominent figure known for his social media presence and unconventional lifestyle, now faces a narrowed scope of legal allegations. The outcome of this ruling is anticipated to have implications for the ongoing case and Bobrisky’s future legal battles. As the legal saga continues, observers await further developments in this high-profile matter.
