The federal government unveils plans to resume direct cash transfers to uplift 12 million Nigerians out of poverty.
Wale Edun, Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister for the Economy, revealed the initiative at a Ministry retreat in Uyo, Akwa-Ibom state today.
“The presidential panel on social investment programmes is set to recommend restarting direct payments to the poorest and most vulnerable,” stated the finance minister. “With approximately 3 million current beneficiaries and the escalating economic challenges, an additional 12 million households stand to benefit from this crucial support.”
