FCT Minister Nyesom Wike has taken strong action against cross-border banditry and one-chance robbers in the Federal Capital Territory. He has established two joint task forces, comprising all security agencies, to combat these issues.
One-chance robbers, who often impersonate staff drivers and target unsuspecting passengers, causing harm and sometimes even fatalities, are a significant concern in the area.
Commissioner of Police, FCT Command, Haruna Garba, announced these measures after the FCT Security Council meeting chaired by Minister Wike. The joint task forces will focus on eradicating one-chance robberies and tackling cross-border crimes, including armed robberies and kidnappings.
These security operations have already begun, and they aim to ensure the safety of residents in the Federal Capital Territory. Additionally, security operatives are conducting raids on mechanic workshops based on intelligence to remove potential threats and maintain security in the region.
