Toby Keith, the iconic country music star, succumbed to stomach cancer on Monday, February 5, as announced by his family on Tuesday, February 6. He was 62 years old.

In a heartfelt statement shared on social media, Keith’s family conveyed his peaceful passing, emphasizing his grace and courage throughout his illness, and requested privacy during this difficult time.

The news of Keith’s diagnosis emerged in June 2022, revealing his six-month journey of chemotherapy, radiation, and surgery. Despite the challenges, he remained optimistic and focused on spending quality time with his loved ones.

In an interview with The Oklahoman in June 2023, Keith expressed positivity about his health, noting a favorable response to treatments and contemplating a return to touring with his band.

His resilience was evident when he accepted the Country Icon Award at the People’s Choice Country Awards, where he shared insights into his journey, acknowledging the support of his faith and the ups and downs of his battle.

Throughout his illustrious career, spanning 19 studio albums and boasting an impressive 20 No. 1 hits on the Billboard Hot Country chart, including classics like “Should’ve Been a Cowboy” and “How Do You Like Me Now?!,” Keith left an indelible mark on the country music landscape.
