Tristan Thompson of the Cleveland Cavaliers faces a significant setback in his NBA career. The league has handed down a substantial suspension after the forward tested positive for banned substances ibutamoren and SARM LGD-4033. Thompson will be sidelined for the next 25 games, dealing a blow to the team’s aspirations.
Both substances are classified as performance enhancers, known for boosting strength and expediting recovery. Thompson, who recently expressed enthusiasm for the season, has yet to publicly address the positive tests.
The suspension is set to commence on Wednesday, coinciding with the Cavaliers’ match against the Milwaukee Bucks. Thompson, Khloe Kardashian’s ex, had only joined the team in September and had been optimistic about the season, even switching his jersey number from 12 to 13.
In 36 games this season, Thompson has been contributing an average of 3.8 points, 3.9 rebounds, and 1.1 assists per contest.
