After nearly a week of anguish and uncertainty, the family of Elijah Okunola, a DoorDash driver who went missing on April 13, can breathe a sigh of relief as Chicago police have located him, according to his family.
DoorDash revealed that Okunola’s last completed delivery was on April 2, although the missing persons bulletin issued by Chicago police cited his last contact as April 13.
Authorities indicated that the 24-year-old was last seen driving in the vicinity of 55 East Pearson Street in Chicago.
Detailing the circumstances surrounding Okunola’s disappearance, his older brother disclosed that Okunola resides with his mother and sister and was last witnessed dropping his mother off at work.
In an interview with ABC7 Chicago on Monday, Okunola’s mother confirmed that her son was discovered by police on Friday and has since returned home, bringing a sense of relief to the family.
“Elijah is back home with us. We want to thank everyone for their prayers and support during this difficult time.”
Elijah’s brother, Oyetunji also expressed his appreciation to the Chicago police.
“We are immensely grateful to the Chicago police for their efforts in locating my brother. It has been a harrowing experience for our family, but we are relieved to have him back home.”
No further details were provided regarding the circumstances of Okunola’s disappearance or his condition upon being found.
When approached for comment, DoorDash declined to provide additional information, citing privacy concerns.
