Some youths of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) from Benue South senatorial district have called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to overlook opposition from some elders in the zone and consider younger Idoma/Igede individuals for federal appointments. The APC youth emphasized that many qualified young individuals have been actively involved in party activities and deserve consideration for various positions.
Comrade Okpokwu Ogenyi, Converter of the Forum and an APC chieftain, expressed concern about certain elders’ endorsement of a candidate without consulting critical stakeholders and party leadership in the zone. He pointed out that some of these elders were not even members of the APC and had campaigned for opposition parties during elections.
The youths highlighted the need for unity within the Idoma/Igede nation, citing instances of sabotage during the elections by individuals who claimed to represent the zone. They stressed the importance of supporting the APC wholeheartedly to achieve success in future elections.
While advocating for the opportunity for the Idoma/Igede nation to produce a Federal Minister, the youth group also urged the elders to congratulate the Benue State nominee, similar to how Sen. George Akume had done in the past. They expressed confidence in President Tinubu and Sen. Akume’s leadership.
