By December 2022, Holmes had officially filed for divorce from Marilee Fiebig, his spouse since 2010, with whom he shares a 10-year-old daughter named Sabine. Holmes also has a daughter named Brianna and a son named Jaiden from a previous marriage to Amy Ferson.

In January, the pair formally departed from Good Morning America, following discussions regarding different possibilities with ABC News. The network released a statement expressing gratitude for their contributions while acknowledging their departure.
