The Nigerian government weeks ago detained two key executives from Binance, a leading cryptocurrency exchange platform.
The identities of the detained individuals have been confirmed as Tigran Gambaryan and Nadeem Anjarwalla, both playing crucial roles within the Binance organization.
Gambaryan, formerly associated with the U.S. IRS-CI Cyber Crimes Unit, currently heads Binance’s criminal investigations team. Meanwhile, Anjarwalla oversees Binance’s operations in Africa, particularly in Kenya, holding dual citizenship of British and Kenyan origin.
Reports indicate that both executives are being held in Abuja without clarity on the nature of the investigation against them. Yuki, Gambaryan’s wife, has disclosed that despite their detention, both individuals are permitted supervised phone access.
