The Minnesota Vikings have star power on offense, with one of football’s elite wide receivers, a talented secondary target, a proven tight end, and a respected, offense-minded head coach. Apparently, that still isn’t enough.
Fox Sports recently ranked the quarterback supporting casts across all 32 NFL teams entering the 2026 season, and Minnesota landed at No. 22 overall. The ranking highlights both the strengths and glaring concerns surrounding Kevin O’Connell’s offense as it enters what could be one of the franchise’s most important seasons in years.
The good news begins where it always does. Justin Jefferson continues to be one of football’s top offensive threats, recording 84 receptions on 141 targets for a total of 1,048 receiving yards, 2 touchdowns, and a 12.5 yards per catch average in 2025. When Minnesota’s offense functions smoothly, Jefferson becomes extremely difficult to defend against. Complementing him, Jordan Addison provides defenses with another formidable option, while the addition of veteran wide receiver Jauan Jennings this offseason further enhances the team’s receiving corps.
The Vikings also continue to count heavily on tight end T.J. Hockenson, who remains one of the better receiving tight ends in football when healthy. On paper, those weapons should create a favorable environment for any quarterback.
The problem?
Fox Sports pointed directly to two concerns holding Minnesota back: offensive line play and a lack of dependable balance on offense. The Vikings struggled heavily along the offensive front last season. Injuries compounded issues throughout the year, and protection became a major concern. Minnesota quarterbacks absorbed 60 sacks during the 2025 season, tied for the second-most in the NFL.
Minnesota’s running game also remains under scrutiny.
Aaron Jones continues to provide veteran leadership and versatility, but entering his age-32 season, questions naturally remain about workload sustainability and durability. The Vikings leaned heavily on Jones last season, and Fox Sports clearly believes Minnesota needs more consistency from its ground attack moving forward.
