The Oklahoma Sooners have one of the best recruiting classes in the country for the 2027 cycle. One of the cornerstone pieces of the class, Cooper Hackett, will miss his senior season.
According to a story from SoonerScoop.com’s Josh McCuistion (subscription required), Hackett is getting set to undergo surgery for a torn labrum in his shoulder in the next couple of weeks that will keep him out this fall. According to Hackett, he could potentially return for the playoffs if Fort Gibson were able to make it to the postseason but told SoonerScoop that he’ll prioritize his future at Oklahoma.
Hackett is a five-star prospect in the 2027 recruiting class and ranks as the No. 2 offensive tackle and the No. 17 overall player class. The Sooners flipped Hackett from Texas Tech last September, shortly after defeating Auburn to start the season 4-0.
Hackett, along with fellow in-state star offensive lineman Kaeden Penny, represents the future of Oklahoma’s offensive line.
