New Mexico United has an open roster spot.
The club and defender Will Seymore “mutually parted ways,” it announced Monday.
It’s the third transaction United has made in the last two months.
New Mexico loaned midfielder Marlon Vargas to USL League One side Union Omaha for the remainder of the season on June 29. The club announced the addition of goalkeeper Andrew Pannenberg on Friday.
United currently holds the top spot in the Western Conference table despite being tied with both Orange County SC and El Paso Locomotive FC with 34 points. New Mexico holds tiebreakers over the two. But United (10-4-4) can take sole possession should it beat or tie Lexington SC (9-7-4), which it hosts at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday.
The 34-year-old Seymore made 12 appearances — between the regular season, USL Cup and U.S. Open Cup — with seven starts this season and logged 631 minutes. But he has not played in a meaningful match since New Mexico’s 1-0 win at Sacramento Republic FC on June 20. Seymore did substitute for United in its 3-3 international friendly draw against Liga MX’s Atlante FC on July 1.
It’s a stark departure from what Seymore, who joined the club in 2022, contributed in 2025 during New Mexico’s run to the Western Conference final.
He appeared in 29 of United’s 30 regular-season matches with 22 starts, all four of the club’s USL Cup games and its one U.S. Open Cup matchup. Seymore, however, only played in one of New Mexico’s three playoff matches — the first, coming on as an 86th-minute substitute in a 2-0 win against San Antonio FC.
Overall, Seymore made 133 appearances across all competitions in his four-plus seasons with United. He scored four goals.
