Lakers reportedly worked out Duke Brennan on Tuesday

May 27, 2026

The Los Angeles Lakers have multiple roster holes to fill this offseason, but they will have a number of resources they can use to fill those holes. In addition to tens of millions of dollars of projected salary cap space, as well as two future first-round draft picks they can use in a potential trade, they will have the No. 25 pick in next month’s NBA draft.

While they could also offer that pick to another team in exchange for a player who is ready to help right now, many fans would argue that the Lakers would be better off keeping that pick and selecting the right player. They reportedly had a workout scheduled with Duke Brennan, a big man from Villanova University, on Tuesday.

Brennan is 6-foot-10 and weighs roughly 235 to 250 pounds, and this past season, he averaged 12.4 points on 65.8% shooting, 10.3 rebounds, 0.8 steals and 0.5 blocks a game. According to Alan Lu of NBA Scouting Live, Brennan is a high-energy player who is strong and mobile.

“He is a high-motor player that excels at finishing plays around the basket, and is a good rebounder and interior defender,” Lu wrote. “He will need to expand upon his skill set offensively, but he makes winning team plays on both ends of the floor, and he could end up making it to the NBA someday.”

The 23-year-old played a total of four years of college basketball, and he could go in the second round of the draft or become an undrafted free agent. He may be a bit of a project player, but the Lakers have shown more of an emphasis on developing young players over the last year or two, and they have had some success with finding diamonds in the rough, including Alex Caruso, Austin Reaves and Jordan Goodwin.
