Indigenes of Ibadan, under the auspices of the Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes, CCII, have vowed not to allow any external influence to destabilise the prevailing peace in the ancient city.
The CCII also called on a former governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose, not to dabble into the affairs of the people of the ancient city.
The CCII, which is the apex socio-cultural group in Ibadan, made these declarations in a statement while reacting to Fayose’s claim that Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State has perfected plans to depose the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rasidi Adewolu Ladoja.
DAILY POST reports that Fayose had yesterday claimed that Makinde will begin the process of dethronement of the Olubadan.
But the CCII, in a statement signed by its President-General, Chief Sulaimon Ajeniyi Ajewole, described Fayose’s statement as misleading.
Ajewole, in the statement made available to DAILY POST on Monday by the Publicity Secretary of the council, Kola Olomide, described Fayose’s statement as unfounded, provocative, and capable of inciting unrest in the ancient city.
He said that the people of the ancient city will not tolerate any external attempt to destabilise the existing peace in Ibadan.
He advised Fayose to keep his mouth shut.
“Fayose should not inflame the polity in Ibadan and Oyo State in general with reckless and unverified statements.”
