Ogun State Police Command has arrested 146 suspects during a coordinated security operation in Sagamu, as part of efforts to curb crime and maintain public safety in the area.
The development was disclosed in a statement shared on April 14, 2026, on the official page of the command.
According to the statement, the operation code named “Operation Keep Sagamu Safe,” was carried out in the early hours of April 13 following intelligence reports on suspected criminal activities in parts of Sagamu.
The command said the raid targeted identified flashpoints where criminal elements were believed to be operating, noting that the exercise was aimed at preventing any breakdown of law and order.
It added that the operation was conducted in collaboration with other security agencies, including the military, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Amotekun Corps, Ogun State Community Security Corps, and local vigilante groups.
“The operation was designed to forestall any breakdown of law and order and reinforce public safety across the area,” the statement said.
According to the police, the suspects are currently undergoing screening to determine their level of involvement in criminal activities, adding that those found culpable will be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation.
The Commissioner of Police Bode Ojajuni, commended the collaboration among security agencies, describing the operation as a reflection of proactive and intelligence-led policing.
He also assured residents of the command’s commitment to sustaining efforts aimed at ensuring peace and security across the state.
The police, however, urged members of the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to security agencies.
