In recent developments, rapper Jeezy, whose real name is Jay Jenkins, has officially filed for divorce from his wife, Jeannie Mai, following a marriage that lasted a little over two years. The news, obtained from court documents by The Atlanta Journal-Constitution on Thursday, reveals that Jeezy and the former “Real” host are currently separated.

One significant aspect of this divorce is Jeezy’s pursuit of joint custody for their 1-year-old daughter, Monaco. It’s worth noting that the estranged couple had a prenuptial agreement in place, as reported by the outlet.

At the time of reporting, representatives for both Jeannie Mai and Jeezy have not responded to Page Six’s request for comment.

Jeezy, aged 45, and Mai, aged 44, celebrated their union in their Atlanta home on March 27, 2021, after dating for three years. Due to the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, all wedding attendees had to undergo testing two days before the event.

Reflecting on their wedding plans, Mai shared with Vogue, “We were really looking forward to having all of our friends and family there to celebrate, but we had to change all of our wedding plans due to COVID. After Jeezy’s mother unexpectedly passed, we quickly learned that life is too short. And at the end of the day, Jeezy and I really just wanted to become husband and wife. So we decided to turn our original wedding into a mini-mony, where we exchanged our vows in front of our immediate family and a few close friends.”

Their family grew when they welcomed their child together in January 2022, but they chose to keep Monaco’s arrival private for five months.

Jeannie Mai was previously married to Freddy Harteis for a decade, and their split in 2017 was partly due to differences in wanting children.

Jeezy, on the other hand, is a father to three other children.
