In recent news, Prince Harry has chosen not to attend King Charles III’s 75th birthday celebration, despite receiving an invitation to the royal event. Charles, who turns 75 on November 14, will host a gathering at Clarence House in London to mark this special occasion.

Harry, who currently resides in California with his wife, Meghan Markle, and their two children, had flown overseas for various important events. Notably, he and Meghan showed their support at the 2023 Invictus Games in Germany, an event Harry founded in 2014. During his visit, Harry also made a brief stop in the U.K. to attend the 2023 WellChild Awards and pay his respects at the burial site of his late grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II, who passed away in September 2022 at the age of 96.

An unnamed source revealed, “Everybody knows how close Harry and the queen had always been, so visiting [her burial site] and being able to pay his respects meant the world to him. Although Harry is living in the States now, the U.K. will always feel like home to him, so it felt very special that he was able to attend.”

However, it’s worth noting that during his visit, Harry did not have a reunion with his father, King Charles, or his brother, Prince William. Tensions have persisted between Harry and other royal family members since he and Meghan stepped down from their senior royal duties in March 2020 and relocated to California. The couple has been candid about the challenges they faced as members of the royal family, some of which Harry has documented in his memoir, “Spare.”

Harry did have a prior reunion with Charles during the latter’s coronation ceremony in May. Meghan did not attend this historic event, opting to celebrate their son Archie’s 4th birthday in the U.S. Shortly after the coronation festivities concluded, Harry returned home to be with his family.

Royal expert Nick Bullen explained, “My understanding is [Harry] didn’t have any interactions with the Prince or Princess of Wales but that he did have a conversation with his father the night before.”

While tensions continue to affect the relationship between Harry and other royal family members, it appears that this drama has actually brought King Charles and Prince William closer together. Royal expert Christopher Andersen noted, “They’ve had to put up this united front against Harry and Meghan. They’ve been insulted by members of their own family. It’s been quite the ordeal for them, and I think that they kind of circled the wagon, so to speak. And they’ve come out of that with a stronger bond.”
