A heartbreaking incident has shaken the community as a young boy was pronounced dead following an attack by the family dog. Ezra Mansoor, who was around six weeks old, was reportedly attacked by the family husky while he lay in his crib.

Ezra’s mother, Chloe Mansoor, recounted the tragic events, emphasizing that the husky had never shown signs of aggression before. “You just think it would never happen to you. But it can happen to anyone, with any dog breed, no matter how long you’ve had the dog,” she said. Chloe described Ezra as her everything, struggling to find words to express her grief. “Ezra meant everything. There’s really no words, other than just absolutely everything.”

The attack occurred on May 24, and Ezra was pronounced dead on Thursday. Chloe mentioned that the dog bit Ezra unprovoked while he was still in the crib. She stressed the importance of awareness among parents in East Tennessee, urging them to ensure their children’s safety. In a bittersweet decision, Chloe revealed that Ezra’s organs would be donated, offering a glimmer of hope amid the sorrow.

“I didn’t realize until this happened just how supported we are and just how many people he had that loved him already,” Chloe shared. “Ezra was just asleep in his crib — not crying or anything. And she just attacked out of nowhere.”

The Knox County Sheriff’s Office stated that they could not provide information about the open investigation involving a minor.

Reflecting on the brief time she had with Ezra, Chloe said, “All the sleepless nights and the dirty diapers — looking back, I would take a million sleepless nights and dirty diapers and all the fussiness, you would take it all back in a second and never take any moment or second for granted.”

Young-Williams Animal Center confirmed that they are holding the dog following the incident. Their statement reads: “Young-Williams Animal Center is holding an adult dog following an incident in which an infant was reported to have been injured in Knoxville on May 24, 2024. The dog is under a 10-day bite quarantine as required by state law.”
