Shanon Biles, the biological mother of Olympic gymnast Simone Biles, is publicly reaching out to her daughter in a heartfelt plea for forgiveness and reconciliation. In a recent interview with the *Daily Mail*, Shanon opened up about her struggles with addiction, which led to the loss of her children and her ongoing desire to reconnect with the world-renowned athlete.

Shanon, who still resides in Columbus, Ohio, where Simone, 27, and her sister Adria, 22, were born, recounted the painful journey that saw her daughters placed into foster care and eventually adopted by her father, Ronald Biles, and his wife, Nellie Biles, who raised Simone and Adria in Houston, Texas.

The separation from her children began when Shanon’s battles with drug and alcohol addiction spiraled out of control, leading to severe financial and legal troubles. At the time, her two eldest children, Ashley, 34, and Tevin, 29, were taken in by Ronald’s sister.

Reflecting on that difficult period, Shanon, now 52, admitted, “It took me six years before I saw my children again. I was respecting my dad to let the kids transition. He felt that was the best thing for them. It was hard to give up my kids, but I had to do what I had to do. I wasn’t able to care for them. I was still using, and he didn’t want me coming in and out of their lives when I wasn’t right.”

Despite the loss of contact with her children, Shanon has since turned her life around. She has been clean and sober since 2022 and currently works as a cashier at a Save-A-Lot grocery store. Shanon emphasized her ongoing journey of recovery, saying, “I am a recovering addict and will always be an addict. But there’s a way [to recovery]. You have to learn to stay away from people, places, and things. Change your routine and live your life. Live your best life.”

In her interview, Shanon described herself as a “loving person” who has undergone significant personal growth. However, despite having Simone’s contact information, she has refrained from reaching out directly. “I want her to reach out to me. She’s 27 now. She’s married. I would have liked to have been a part of that, but I just have to wait for her,” Shanon said. “You can’t push anybody. It hasn’t happened yet, but I have patience. I’m waiting on her.”

Shanon and Ronald Biles have reconnected over the years, maintaining regular communication. She shared that she followed Simone’s historic performances at the 2024 Paris Olympics, where Simone became the most decorated gymnast in history, with immense pride. “What I hear about Simone I hear through my dad,” Shanon admitted, adding that she gathered with friends and neighbors to watch her daughter’s Olympic triumphs.

Expressing her deepest wish, Shanon said, “I would like to make amends with Simone personally. I would just ask her to forgive me. ‘Can we move forward? Don’t judge me on my past. Let’s move forward. … Let’s sit down.'”

Shanon also revealed that Simone’s biological father, Kevin Clemons, who lives in Cleveland, shares her desire to reconnect with their daughter. Clemons, who has also struggled with addiction, remains in touch with Shanon but has had no contact with Simone.

In a direct message to Simone, Shanon said, “I would like to sit down and talk to you and answer any questions you may have. I don’t know what you’ve been told, but I want you to hear the real deal.”
