After an awe-inspiring journey spanning 68 days and covering over 6,213 miles, Pelumi Nubi, a courageous young Black woman, has finally arrived in Lagos, Nigeria, marking the triumphant end of her remarkable road trip from London, England.
Embarking on this extraordinary adventure, Nubi, fueled by her adventurous spirit and an insatiable curiosity, meticulously prepared her trusty purple Peugeot 107 for the arduous journey across continents. Saving every hard-earned dollar, she transformed her compact vehicle into a symbol of resilience and determination, ready to traverse diverse terrains and cultures.
Speaking passionately about her motivation, Nubi expressed, “I’m an explorer, adventurer at heart, and I just wanted to connect these two places I consider to be home. I was very curious about the countries that connected these two places.”
Throughout her expedition, Nubi journeyed through a kaleidoscope of landscapes and experiences, navigating her way through an impressive itinerary that included traversing the United Kingdom, France, Spain, Morocco, Western Sahara, Mauritania, Senegal, The Gambia, Guinea-Bissau, Guinea, Sierra Leone, Mali, Burkina Faso, Ghana, Ivory Coast, Togo, Benin, and finally culminating in Nigeria.
Undeterred by the challenges that lay ahead, Nubi embraced the essence of solo travel, immersing herself in the rich tapestry of cultures, languages, and traditions that adorned her path. From the bustling streets of London to the vibrant markets of Lagos, each milestone marked a testament to her indomitable spirit and unwavering determination.
