Renowned Nollywood actor Dejumo Lewis has passed away at the age of 80, leaving a void in the industry. The news was confirmed by actor Saidi Balogun in a heartfelt Instagram post on Saturday, accompanied by a photo of the late veteran.
“Good night DEJUMO LEWIS, may your soul rest in perfect peace. RIP,” Saidi Balogun wrote, sparking an outpouring of condolences from fans and fellow actors.
While the circumstances surrounding Lewis’ demise remain undisclosed, his legacy is immortalized through his significant contributions to Nigerian film and television. Notably, he portrayed the iconic Kabiyesi role in “The Village Headmaster,” Nigeria’s longest-running television soap opera from 1968 to 1988, alongside Justus Esiri and Femi Robinson.
Dejumo Lewis’ impactful performances extend beyond the small screen, with memorable roles in acclaimed films such as “A Place in the Stars” (2014), “Crossroads” (2020), and “Power of 1” (2018). His departure leaves a lasting impact on the Nigerian entertainment landscape. May he rest in peace.
