Brisbane, Australia — An international manhunt is underway after a man allegedly poured scalding hot liquid on a 9-month-old baby boy in a shocking and unprovoked attack in Brisbane, Australia. The incident, which took place on August 27 at Hanlon Park in the Stones Corner area, has left authorities and the community reeling.

According to the Queensland Police, the baby was with his family enjoying the park when an unknown man approached them and suddenly poured hot liquid on the child before fleeing the scene. Emergency services were immediately called, and the infant was rushed to the hospital with serious burns. Fortunately, the baby has since been released from the hospital, but the trauma of the attack has left the family and the local community deeply shaken.

Police quickly launched an investigation, releasing CCTV footage of the suspect fleeing the scene shortly after the attack. The man is described as being between 30 and 40 years old, with a proportionate build and tanned skin. At the time of the incident, he was wearing a black hat, glasses, a shirt, and shorts.

On Monday, detectives from the Morningside Child Protection Investigation Unit confirmed they had identified the suspect as a 33-year-old foreign national. However, it was also revealed that the man has since left Australia, prompting Queensland Police to collaborate with national and international agencies in an effort to apprehend him.

The motive behind the attack remains unclear, and authorities are urging anyone with information about the suspect or the incident to come forward. Queensland Police have made it clear that they are pursuing all leads as they work to bring the man to justice.

“This is a deeply disturbing incident, and we are committed to finding the person responsible,” a Queensland Police spokesperson said. “We are working closely with our partners both within Australia and internationally to ensure that this individual is located and held accountable for this senseless act.”
