In a bid to enhance security measures across Ekiti State, a significant deployment of military personnel from the Nigerian Army headquarters arrived in the state capital, Ado-Ekiti, on Thursday.

The arrival of the troops was announced via a video shared on the state government’s Facebook page, emphasizing the intent to fortify security in the region.

Commander John Larr of the 32 Artillery Brigade, Akure, speaking to journalists at the Fajuyi Pavilion in Ado-Ekiti, asserted the comprehensive nature of the operation, stating, “There will be no hiding place for any bandits or criminals because we will comb the nooks and crannies of Ekiti State.”

With an unwavering commitment, Larr emphasized the round-the-clock efforts of the military, ensuring thorough clearance of the terrain to deter criminal activities. He stated that,  “There will be no nights and no days because we will do our work and clear the bushes 24 hours and I want to say that we are starting now, we just came now and we are starting now.”

Brig-Gen. Ebenezer Ogundana, the Special Adviser on Security to the state governor, provided assurance to residents, highlighting the operation’s aim to render all forests safe and restore peace, allowing farmers to resume their activities without fear.

The deployment follows recent tragic events, including the killing of two traditional rulers, David Ogunsakin, the Elesun of Esun-Ekiti; and Olatunde Olusola, the Onimojo of Omojola-Ekiti; as well as the abduction of schoolchildren, teachers, and a driver from Apostolic Faith School.

These incidents underscore the urgency and necessity of bolstering security measures to safeguard the lives and livelihoods of Ekiti State residents.
