President Bola Tinubu has made a significant move within the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) by directing its Director-General, Aliyu Aziz, to commence a 90-day pre-retirement leave. The presidency’s official statement also discloses that Bisoye Coker-Adesote will be stepping into the role of the new DG of the agency.
Effective from August 24, 2023, Aliyu Aziz’s leave paves the way for his retirement from service on November 24, 2023. Additionally, the President has greenlit the temporary appointment of Engr. Bisoye Coker-Odusote to the position of Acting Director-General/CEO of the NIMC. This 90-day interim period, commencing on August 24, 2023, will be followed by a full four-year term as the substantive NIMC Director-General/CEO, beginning on November 24, 2023.
President Tinubu’s involvement extended beyond the NIMC. He has also sanctioned the appointment of Hon. Yusuf Buba Yakub as the new Director/CEO of the Directorate of Technical Aid Corps (DTAC). This decision comes on the heels of the former DTAC Director/CEO, Dr. Pius Osunyikanmi, completing his tenure.
These appointments have been set into motion with immediate effect, ushering in a new era of leadership within these critical government agencies.
