Sarah Ferguson, Duchess of York was recovering after undergoing an operation following a recent diagnosis of breast cancer.

The 63-year-old duchess had discovered she had an early form of the disease after a routine mammogram and was treated and released from the hospital on Sunday, her spokesperson said.

Prince Andrew’s ex-wife, known affectionately as “Fergie,” was recovering with her family at her Windsor home.

“The Duchess is receiving the best medical care and her doctors have told her that the prognosis is good,” read a statement. “She is now recuperating with her family.”

Her procedure was described as “successful,” thanks to the early diagnosis.

“She was advised she needed to undergo surgery which has taken place successfully,” the spokesperson added.

Sarah has championed charitable efforts to fight breast cancer and has spoken about her situation on an episode of her podcast “Tea Talks with the Duchess and Sarah,” set to air Monday.

A friend of the duchess told The Sun that she was thankful to be through the ordeal.

“It’s been a difficult time but she is very grateful to the medical staff who carried out the mammogram and detected it early and the medical staff who looked after her these last few days, she is incredibly thankful,” the friend said.

Sarah has remained close with Prince Andrew and was said to be recovering with him and their daughters Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie at Royal Lodge.

She split with King Charles III’s disgraced brother in 1996 after ten years of marriage.

Andrew, The Duke of York had been removed from his royal duties by his late mother Queen Elizabeth after being accused of raping a teenager he met through convicted serial pedophile Jeffrey Epstein.
