During a contentious House hearing regarding Republicans’ unfounded push to impeach Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, Rep. Joe Neguse (D-Colo.) seized a moment to resurrect an old op-ed titled “Americans are The Victims of The Impeachment Inquiry.”
In a surprising twist, Neguse confronted Homeland Security Committee chair Green, questioning his stance on the op-ed’s premise.
Green, taken aback, initially disagreed with the op-ed’s sentiments, only to be reminded by Neguse that the words were his own, penned five years ago during the impeachment debate of former President Trump.
Green indeed penned the piece for The Tennessean in Nov. 2019.
“While we focus on impeachment, we are failing to address the real issues facing the American people. Americans are the ones losing out,” he wrote at the time.”
The revelation sparked a heated exchange as Green found himself grappling with his own past assertions, highlighting the shifting political landscape.
