In a significant diplomatic exchange, President Bola Tinubu is currently engaged in discussions with Prof. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, the Director-General of the World Trade Organisation, at the prestigious Presidential Villa in Abuja. The meeting commenced with the arrival of Prof. Okonjo-Iweala at approximately 2:50 pm.
Accompanying Prof. Okonjo-Iweala was Dr. Ali Pate, a former Minister of State for Health during Goodluck Jonathan’s administration. Their presence underscores the gravity of the discussions taking place within the Villa.
This isn’t the first encounter between Prof. Okonjo-Iweala and President Tinubu. The two leaders previously met in June at a leadership summit held in Paris, France. Prof. Okonjo-Iweala, known for her role as the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy during Jonathan’s government, brings a wealth of experience to the table.
The meeting between President Tinubu and Prof. Okonjo-Iweala is anticipated to touch upon matters of international trade, economic cooperation, and potential areas of collaboration between Nigeria and the World Trade Organisation.
