Police in Johns Creek, Georgia, say three people are dead in what they are describing as a murder-suicide discovered during a welfare check on Sunday afternoon.
Officers responded to a home on Glen Castle Court, where they found the bodies of James Choi, 52, his wife Myoung Choi, 52, and their 15-year-old daughter, Grace Choi.
Investigators believe James Choi killed his wife and daughter before taking his own life.
“This tragic incident has deeply affected not only the family and neighbors, but our entire community,” said Chief of Police Mark J. Mitchell. “We extend our heartfelt condolences to those impacted and ask that the community keep them in their thoughts during this incredibly difficult time.”
Video from the scene showed several police cars outside the home as investigators worked through the afternoon. Authorities say they are withholding further details out of respect for the family’s privacy.
Police did not immediately release information about what may have led to the violence. Counseling and support services are expected to be made available to local residents shaken by the tragedy.
The investigation remains ongoing.
