The Philadelphia Eagles, led by Jason Kelce, secured a decisive victory against Travis Kelce’s Kansas City Chiefs on Monday, November 20, at Arrowhead Stadium. This marked Jason’s first win against Travis since their teams clashed in Super Bowl LVII in February. The Eagles emerged triumphant with a 21-17 score in a closely contested match.
Both teams entered the game at the top of their divisions, with the Chiefs initially taking the lead. Justin Watson scored for the Chiefs, but the Eagles’ D’Andre Swift equalized with a 33-yard run, including a 4-yard touchdown rush. Travis Kelce, the Chiefs’ tight end, momentarily regained the lead with a catch from quarterback Patrick Mahomes, resulting in a 10-point advantage before halftime.
Jalen Hurts, the Eagles’ quarterback, returned in the third quarter with a rushing touchdown, narrowing the gap to three points. In the fourth quarter, Hurts connected with DeVonta Smith for another touchdown, putting the Eagles in the lead. Despite the Chiefs’ offensive efforts, the Eagles’ defense, coupled with dropped passes, prevented Mahomes and his team from scoring again.
This Monday’s game was a rematch of Super Bowl LVII, where the Chiefs previously defeated the Eagles 38-35 in February. Travis and Jason, the first siblings to face off in a Super Bowl, acknowledged on their “New Heights” podcast that the Eagles had never beaten the Chiefs since they joined their respective teams.
Travis emphasized the uniqueness of each matchup, distancing it from the Super Bowl history: “I think of this as the Kansas City Chiefs vs the Philadelphia Eagles in 2023. Both teams are different than they were last year, no matter how similar they are, it’s never the same.”
Despite the competitive nature, both brothers expressed a genuine love for playing against each other, cherishing the opportunity for friends and family to gather and enjoy the event. Jason noted, “There’s a lot of friends and family that get excited and get to watch one game that both of us are playing in. So all of that means a lot more to us, and we get to enjoy that for the entire week.”
