Lu Ke, a 27-year-old Chinese man also known as Susu, has been found guilty of multiple charges related to his despicable act of paying Malawian children to appear in racist videos. The shocking case came to light after a BBC Africa Eye documentary exposed the sale of videos featuring Black children chanting racist remarks in Chinese, such as “I am a Black monster” and “My IQ is low.”

According to reports, Lu Ke offered the children a mere half a dollar to star in these offensive videos, which he then sold on Chinese social media platforms. He allegedly produced up to 380 videos daily, profiting as much as $70 from each sale.

The public outrage over his heinous actions forced Lu Ke to flee illegally to neighboring Zambia. However, he was swiftly apprehended and brought back to Malawi to face justice. The court charged him with numerous offenses, including child trafficking and the procurement of children for the purpose of entertainment. Additionally, Lu Ke faced charges related to the illegal use of the internet and harmful social practices.

In a significant victory for justice, the Malawian court handed down a 12-month prison sentence to Lu Ke and issued a lifetime ban, prohibiting him from ever returning to the country. Having already served 12 months in police custody during the trial, Lu Ke was immediately released but must leave Malawi within seven days.

This conviction marks an important step towards safeguarding the rights and dignity of vulnerable children and sends a clear message that such exploitative behavior will not be tolerated in Malawi.
